One Year Old Program | Bagel bouncers | Teacher-to-student ratio 1:4

The Bagel Bouncers class consists of 1 to 2-year-old children with a maximum of 8 children per day with two teachers. The low child-to-adult ratio benefits the children by creating an atmosphere in which the children feel safe and secure, leading them to comfortably and freely explore their environment. Our teachers strive to meet each individual child’s needs, as well as the needs of the group as a whole, by providing guidance, love, and support through respectful communication. They also promote each individual child’s development: physical and social/emotional. Our teachers integrate Conscious Discipline -- a way of providing the children with the tools to self-regulate and learn about emotions in a fun way! In addition, play is a fundamental way young toddlers learn lifelong skills: language, social/emotional, and physical. Our teachers support, engage and interact with the children all throughout the day, especially during play. The children also build confidence with reasonable responsibilities, such as by throwing away their paper towels after snack and lunch and placing their lunchboxes in their cubbies. Although there are weekly themes for lesson planning, the teachers observe what the children are interested in and follow the direction of the children. This stage in the young toddler’s life is a crucial time to create a solid foundation across the domains, so the children are able to build upon this solid foundation throughout their lives.
